She already has been through multiple marriages and demands that things be done her way. She also is secretly carrying on a lesbian affair. January is devastated to learn that Mike is now wed to this rude, arrogant woman.

Deidre attempts to draw January into a relationship with David Milford, a ladies' man who is the rich woman's nephew. David, too, usually gets his own way, finally persuading January into going to bed with him, only to discover that she is a virgin.

Unsure what to do with her life, January is advised by an old friend, Linda Riggs, now a literary agent, to author a book. Linda enjoys a free-spirit life with many lovers and urges January to do likewise. But due in no small part to her father complex, January instead falls for a much-older Tom Colt, a hard-drinking, impotent novelist.

Mike bitterly resents the affair. He punches Colt upon catching January in a Beverly Hills hotel bungalow with him. Mike orders his daughter to make a choice—him or me—and Colt gives her the same ultimatum. She chooses her lover.

Deidre's demands and insults finally become too much for Mike, who wants a divorce. They amicably agree to one, but their airplane crashes and both are killed. The devastated January turns to Tom Colt for comfort, but he turns against her instead, leaving her to go on alone.

The novel includes much more drug use and sexual content, and has quite a different ending. After the events of the film transpire, January tries acid and partakes in an orgy. She then wanders onto the beach where she hallucinates that she sees her father and walks into the ocean after him, presumably drowning.

The film begins with the suicide attempt of the youngest sister, Cecilia, as she slits her wrist in a bath. After her parents throw a chaperoned party intended to make her feel better, Cecilia excuses herself and jumps out her bedroom window, dying when she impales herself on an iron fence. In the wake of her act, the Lisbon parents begin to watch over their daughters even more closely, further isolating the family from the community and heightening the air of mystery about them.

At the beginning of the new school year in the fall, Lux forms a secret relationship with Trip Fontaine (Josh Hartnett), the school heartthrob. Trip comes over one night to the Lisbon residence to watch television and persuades Mr. Lisbon to allow him to take Lux to the Homecoming Dance by promising to provide dates for the other sisters, to go as a group. After being crowned Homecoming Queen and King, Lux and Trip have sex on the football field. Lux falls asleep, and Trip abandons her immediately. Lux wakes up alone and has to take a taxi home.

Having broken curfew, Lux and her sisters are punished by a furious Mrs. Lisbon by being taken out of school and sequestered in their house. Unable to leave the house, the sisters contact the boys across the street by using light signals and sharing songs over the phone as a means of sharing their feelings.

During this time, Lux begins to have anonymous sexual encounters on the roof of the house late at night; the boys watch from across the street. Finally, after months of confinement, the sisters leave a note for the boys, presumably asking for help to escape. When the boys arrive that night, they find Lux alone in the living room, smoking a cigarette. She invites them to wait for her sisters, while she goes to wait in the car. The boys briefly imagine the group of them driving blissfully away on a sun-soaked country road.

The boys wander into the basement and discover Bonnie's body hanging from the ceiling. Terrified, they rush upstairs only to stumble across the bodies of the remaining sisters. They had all killed themselves in an apparent suicide pact moments before: Therese took an overdose of sleeping pills; Mary stuck her head in the gas oven; and Lux left the car engine running in the sealed garage.

Devastated by the suicides of all their children, Mr. and Mrs. Lisbon quietly flee the neighborhood, never to return. Mr. Lisbon had a friend sell off the family belongings, especially those belonging to the girls, in a yard sale; whatever didn't sell was put in the trash, including the family photos, which the neighborhood boys kept as mementos of the mysterious girls. Soon after, a young couple from Boston purchases the Lisbon's house. Seemingly unsure how to react, the adults in the community go about their lives as if nothing important happened. The dead girls forever remain a source of mystery and grief for the boys, who cannot forget them. The film ends with one of the boys acknowledging in voiceover that they will spend the rest of their lives trying to put together the unsolvable mystery of the Lisbon sisters.

The film begins in a flashback from the titular character, Antoine. We are introduced to his fixation with female hairdressers which began at a young age. The film uses flashbacks throughout and there are frequent parallels drawn with the past. Though Antoine tells Mathilde that 'the past is dead', his life is evidence that on some level the past repeats itself. As a young boy he fantasised about a hairdresser who committed suicide and as a man in his 50s he begins an affair with a hairdresser which ends after ten years in her suicide. However there are differences, Mathilde commits suicide because she is so happy she is afraid of the happiness she has found with Antoine ending.

We are unsure what Antoine has done with his life; we know, however, that he has fulfilled his childhood ambition: to marry a haidresser. The reality proves to be every bit as wonderful as the fantasy and the two enjoy an enigmatic, enclosed and enchanting relationship. The final sequence shows Antoine, in the salon, dancing to Eastern music just as he has done throughout his life. His last line is the enigmatic comment that the hairdresser will return.

Supposedly based on a true story it has plenty of gore, but no actual cannibalism. Elvire Audray plays an 18 years old girl abducted by native tribe and she is pretty terrible actress. Fortunately she is naked through most of the film, so fans of sleaze won't be disappointed. The gore is pretty good (there are numerous decapitation scenes, stabbings etc.) and the film has an obligatory animal cruelty scene. So if you're a fan of Italian exploitation cinema or cannibal sub-genre give this one a look-just don't expect another Cannibal Holocaust (1979).

There are people in everyday life like this and it's honest to see it up there on the big screen. A brilliant film.

After a wild night on the town, a dashing British airline pilot is attacked by thugs, and when he wakes in hospital he finds himself being cared for by a beautiful Doctor, Emy Wong. He falls in love with her, but Emy gravely informs him that, in the ancient Asian custom, she is betrothed to a man that she has never met.From the promotional materials of the time, The Sensuous World of Emy Wong (better known by the unfortunate title Yellow Emanuelle ) one would think Bitto Albertini (aka Albert Thomas) was intending to churn out another soft-core romp, similar to the films of Joe D'Amato. However, after the opening montage around the seedier parts of Hong Kong, viewers finds themselves in the midst of a very different kind of film.This is not unusual with Albertini's work. His legendary Emanuelle nera/Black Emanuelle (1975) was essentially a melodrama, with lots of soft-core fondling thrown in to attract the grindhouse crowd. Albertini concentrates more on dramatic tension and melodrama then his counterparts, with mixed results in most cases, including Yellow Emanuelle. On one hand, you've got Ilona Staller (who later became on of the more off-the-wall figures of Italian porn) and Giuseppe Pambieri engaging in much (simulated) sleazy sex, accompanied by Nico Fidenco's pornoesque score. On the other hand, the romance between Chai Lee's Emy Wong and Pambieri seems to come from another film entirely. It's sensitively told, the actors really seem to believe in what they're doing, and their love scenes are beautifully shot (including one in an unfurnished bedroom that is just this side of art.) The drama works on some levels, Chai Lee creates a sympathetic heroine, although her plight (which I won't spoil for you) seems a little contrived and out of left field. The television version deletes the entire ending subplot (which, again, I won't spoil) and actually works better. The original theatrical ending seems hurried and contrived, so much so that it's intended effect is replaced by a giant Huh? from the audience.All-in-all, the film is enjoyable and beautifully photographed. Those who prefer their sleaze a bit warmed-over but with *some* dramatic oomph will enjoy this picture. Those looking for something a bit more sordid may want to look elsewhere, perhaps to Joe D'Amato's huge catalogue of sexploitation.

The foursome quickly sneak off into the desert for a bit of afternoon delight (you know, one of those it could happen porn plots). It turns out there is more to these hitchhikers than meets the eyes and a well paced and interesting story actually follows.There are great moments in this film, from the lame country songs to the turtle-neck wearing guy who lip-synchs them, to Rene Bond's breasts, you can' help but laugh at and enjoy this film. Don't look for any Oscar nods but Bond actually shows some chops as an actress. So if you don't mind nudity and bad country music, get this film!

A peaceful family-life is suddenly disturbed when the children enter puberty. The children take over the house and ban their parents from their lives.This Dutch film was a big commercial and critical hit when it appeared on Dutch screens in 1984. Which is really odd, considering that it's probably impossible to get a sort of film like this made these days anywhere. This movie is clearly influenced by the struggles that parents and children endure with each other. Everyone who is going through or has gone through puberty or is a parent of a child going through puberty might recognize the basis of the story. But the brilliance of Van Hemert is that he has taken this outline based on reality and has blown it out of proportion, which makes the movie a truly entertaining and demented experience.The family Gisberts live in a very affluent villa. Father John Gisberts works in a nearby army base, where he does not do any much except for flying around in a helicopter, thereby checking out his family the whole time. His family is a real wild bunch. There's the mother Danny, who has fooled around with her tennis teacher Dennis, who is actually in love with the daughter of the family, Madelon. She harbors the same feelings for Dennis, although Danny does everything to stop them. The eldest son Thijs, in the meanwhile, is going through a heavy puberty and likes to cross on his motor cycle through the family garden, thereby destroying it. And then there are the two youngest sons Jan-Julius and Valentijn, who are clearly following the examples of their elder siblings and are up to no good. The children are wholly neglected by their parents, and if they are not neglected then they are condescended to or shouted at. John and Danny are clearly in an unhappy marriage and were not ever meant to have children. The only thing they seem to care about is their social status, with John clearly up for a promotion at his army base. The children are fed up with their parents' neglect and in the beginning are trying to get their attention at whatever means necessary, even if that means converting the alarm clock next to their parents'bed into... a ticking bomb! Of course, this doesn't work. And soon the fights descend into an all-out war between the two generations of the Gisberts family with a highlight being the children gassing their parents to a long sleep, evicting their parents out of the house and the parents trying to regain their house with the help of John's friends of the army base in one of the best action scenes ever done in Dutch cinema.Schatjes starts blackly comic and veers into action-thriller territory and finally ends up with a horror sequence, homaging Kubrick's The Shining. It also has a bizarre musical interlude, in which tennis teacher Dennis tries get back with Madelon by singing a song; a scene that clearly tries to send up genre conventions, but completely fails. Reasons for inclusion of this scene might be director Ruud van Hemert and his former experience with the then-experimental Dutch television network VPRO. But the rest of the movie is assuredly directed and written by Van Hemert. The actors are also quite up to the task. As the parents Peter Faber (John) and Geert de Jong (Danny) descend comically and believably (albeit in a grotesque kind of way) from egotistical nitwits to maniacal bastards. The children start out believably as irritating little sh*ts, but their characters turn out to be easy to root for and are most of the time, bizarrely enough, affecting. Clearly Van Hemert was wanting the public to root for the children, which makes the movie quite controversial as usually the parents' position is something that can't be questioned in a patriarchal world, like the one we live in. but Van Hemert had the guts to stick the finger to conservative thinking, which makes Schatjes! a guilty pleasure.

A man is doing research on an island where a strange tribe lives. The man's wife gets into a (sexual) relationship with a woman from the tribe and brings her back to the big city where problems begin to occur.

This is an example of small, kind of unofficial genre in 1970's Italian exploitation films, which might be called the "black sexploitation film" (not to be confused with American "blaxploitation" films). These films generally traded in exotic travel, lots of interracial sexual couplings, and (in their most potentially offensive aspect) the myth of "primitive" black sexuality. Director/cinematographer Joe D'Amato was one of the masters of this "genre", having been the driving force behind the "Black Emanuelle" series. D'Amato's most frequent actress in these softcore extravaganzas, Laura Gemser, actually looked a lot more Asian than "black", but these films also featured plenty of white European women like Karin Schubert, Ely Galeani, and the star of this film, Nieves Navarro, getting down and dirty with the dark-skinned "natives". This movie is most similar to D'Amato's "Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals" and "Papaya of the Caribbean", but while it has plenty of sex, for better or worse, it is nowhere near as violent as either of those movies.

An older woman (Nieves Navarro) visiting her writer husband (Richard Harrison),while he's staying on a tropical island, meets a young "native" girl (Lucia Ramirez). They have a lesbian affair, and she decides to take the girl back with her to "civilization". She isn't adequately alarmed when the girl, in a fit of jealousy, tries to take a machete to a guy she brings home from a bar. The girl also causes some tension between her and her husband (even though she already cheats on him with everything in pants), but as is often the case in these kind of movies this tension is eventually assuaged with a steamy three-way sex scene. But when the couple decide to move away and try to return the girl to her village, they learn too late that her fierce lesbian jealously has caused her to return to her "primitive" bloodlust.

The plot is obviously preposterous, and rather ham-handedly executed to boot. Ramirez is certainly more "black" than Laura Gemser (who really should have been in this), but she looks a lot more like the cosmopolitan, mixed-race fashion model she probably was in real life than any kind of of "primitive local". It's weird seeing expatriate actor Richard Harrison in a movie like this--he was usually in more respectable Italian genre films like spaghetti Westerns or crime thrillers (he claimed in an interview I read that he didn't know that this was actually a sex film!). Only Nieves Navarro seems at home in this genre. It is odd that someone who was once a fairly successful leading genre actress would become a softcore porn star in middle age. But she definitely still had a great body here in her early forties, and just because these sex-soaked roles were really beneath her talent doesn't mean she wasn't very good at them.

Camping Cosmos is the surrealist belgian movie of the last ten years. Jan Bucquoy, the spiritual son of the great surrealist Marcel mariën, shows us how strange the belgians can be. Surrealism seems to be the belgian way of life. Bucquoy shows us a large range of people from all horizons, having all their own ambitions and finding all the most unexpected ways to realize their dreams In the camp we meet pie-thrower Le Gloupier, Tintin with his dog working now as a radio-animator,Lolo Ferrari who cannot find the real love: all this shown in a holliday atmosphere with the beach and tourists . All is told with a lot of sensibility, some times a little vulgarity, but if you read between the lines you'll laugh about it and appreciate it at its best.

It is more fantastic to own than ELECTRIC BOOGALOO or LAMBADA or SALSA put together! THE APPLE is more berserk than all those film mentioned above, ground into fluorescent dust-chalk and blended with glitter and then swallowed. Made in an unfinished shopping mall in East Germany by mad Israeli mogul Mehaheim Golan from the famed Cannon Films shed, THE APPLE is c colossal collision of Eurovision and a projectile vomit.

A couple of musicians are on their way to a show at a country bar. Along the way, they pick up a couple of sexy hitchhiking ladies and decide to pull over for a pitstop. Eventually, they make it to the bar and uncover that the deep voiced country singer that also plays there is also a pimp who uses the "waitresses" to make him some extra cash. It is up to our musician heroes to put an end to the singer and his operation.

Rene Bond was the U.S.'s first legit porn star and the first to get breast implants! This is one of her first films. This film isn't hardcore porn so if that is what you want, skip this film.

The movie starts off innocently enough with two country music singers rolling into L.A. on fumes and their "last ten bucks," when they pick up two beautiful hitchhikers. The foursome quickly sneak off into the desert for a bit of afternoon delight (you know, one of those "it could happen" porn plots). It turns out there is more to these hitchhikers than meets the eyes and a well paced and interesting story actually follows.

There are great moments in this film, from the lame country songs to the turtle-neck wearing guy who lip-synchs them, to Rene Bond's breasts, you can' help but laugh at and enjoy this film. Don't look for any Oscar nods but Bond actually shows some chops as an actress. So if you don't mind nudity and bad country music, get this film!

Mouse (adorable Chris Jordan) and Bird (the gorgeous Sandra Peabody of "The Last House on the Left" fame) are a couple of sassy and sexy hitchhikers who embark on a cross country road trip in search of freedom, excitement, and independence. The lovely ladies use their nubile bodies as currency and run across a diverse array of libidinous folks on their journey. Director Gerrie Sedley and writer Rod Whipple astutely nail the aimless wandering spirit of the laid-back early 70's while relating the rambling episodic narrative at a leisurely pace. Of course, they also deliver plenty of tasty female nudity and several sizzling soft-core sex scenes (an uninhibited anything-goes orgy at a wild swingin' party rates as the definite erotic highlight). Moreover, this movie boasts a hilariously breezy sense of distinctly 70's irreverent humor, with loads of sharp sarcastic dialogue (favorite line: "If you want bread, go *beep* a baker!") and inspired oddball moments that include our saucy protagonists dancing topless at a diner for food and a surreal backwoods encounter with a vicious escaped rapist (an amusing performance by Ric Mancini). Jordan and Peabody make for attractive and appealing leads; their nice natural chemistry keeps the picture buzzing throughout. Popping up in nifty supporting parts are the cute Nikki Lynn as mopey virginal innocent Jennie, Claire Wilbur as wealthy predatory lesbian Toni Blake, Peter Carew as jolly traveling salesman Dick Daggart, Kevin Andre as flaky car dealer Farquart, and Ivan Smith as a goofy local yokel cop. Gabriel Merchant's bright cinematography gives the film a pleasing sunny look. The groovy diggin' score offers an eclectic mix of tuneful folk, jaunty ragtime, and get-down funky rock. Good trashy fun.
